What is Restorative Dentistry

Restoration is a term used in dentistry to describe restoring the function of the tooth by replacing missing or damaged tooth structure. Restorative Dentistry is the area of dentistry that focuses on restoring the tooth to a fully functional tooth. Whether you have a cavity in your tooth or your tooth is fractured, in both cases the teeth need to be restored to full functionality. Likewise, after a root canal has been done, many times the tooth requires a crown in order to protect the tooth.

Restorative dentistry includes treatments such as root canals, crowns, bridges, partials, dentures, fillings, veneers, and implant restorations (placing the crown or bridges over dental implants).
