Invisalign® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you simply wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or orthodontist plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You simply pop in a new set if aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete and you achieve the confident smile that you’ve always wanted. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth.
The Invisalign® Process
The process is simple. After an initial consultation, Dr. Douglas will explain and discuss how Invisalign® can work for you. She will take photos and impressions to send to Invisalign® along with a step-by-step plan for managing the shift and spacing of your teeth. This information is then translated into a 3D digital Cad-Cam model so you and Dr. Douglas can view the progression and final alignment of your teeth ahead of time. When approved, Invisalign® carefully translates Dr. Douglas’ instructions into a series of precisely customized aligners. You then wear each set of aligners for about two weeks which moves your teeth gradually according to plan. The number of visits and length of treatment is usually less than traditional braces because you have a well laid out plan in advance, rather than ’trial and error’ wire adjustments.
